Shining his light

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. ~Tecumseh

It’s always so fun and such an honor for me to get to photograph the stories, passions, and gifts of high school seniors. I couldn’t let the year go by without getting a few photographs of my own senior in the very special place where he has spent such a huge part of the last four years, learning and growing. If you’re ever looking for him, you can usually find him on the cat walk, behind a computer, or running up and down stairs with keys in hand. He has grown from a quiet member of the drama club tech crew as a freshman to a hard working leader as the club’s head of tech. He devotes a portion of his school day as a student tech to troubleshoot and fix problems, he works for the community after hours during special events and performances, and has earned a summer job working for the school district’s technology department. He is very grateful to his mentor, Scott Usher, and for all of the opportunities and experiences along the way that have helped him develop his passion and that have inspired him to pursue a degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan. It’s been profound to see him work quietly behind the scenes to shine a light on and make a difference to others. In him doing so, I’ve found so much joy in watching his own light shine even brighter! I hope you enjoy a couple of favorites from our photo shoot.
